About the Game: Words from the game maker, Games-Workshop: The Return of the King adds greater depth and detail to the previous games with 12 new scenarios that allows players to re-create the events of the third film. The 176 page, full color rulebook also includes a comprehensive forces section that gives players all the information you need to field warriors from any of the films. From older characters such as Isuldur to newer ones like the Mouth of Sauron, from the noble High Elves to the brutish Mordor Trolls and the horrific Shelob, players will now be able to draw on an incredible variety of characters, warriors, and monsters for their armies. New rules also cover using banners and musicians in games as well as special combat tactics such as firing massed volleys at the enemy. The rulebook also includes The War of the Ring, a special section presenting an additional 5 scenarios covering the great battles raging throughout Middle-earth plus a new character to use in them.
ROTK Game Details: There are some very exciting things coming with the release of this third installment of the Lord of the  Rings Tabletop Strategy Battle Game. Models Galore: As with The Tow Towers, this new game brings a ton of new models, scenarios, characters, scenery, play rules, scenarios, seige weapons, and lots of exciting ways to combine, customize, and create your very own scenes from the world of Middle-earth. Some of the new models include: Easterlings, Mordor Uruk-hai, Harad, Mordor Orcs, various Heroes of the West (Frodo, Sam, Aragorn, Gandalf, etc.). Also are characters more specific to Return of the King including: Fell Beast, Mouth of Sauron, Denethor, Armies of the Dead, Gondorian Knights, Harad Warriors, etc. Further, this new game will see the release of additional monstrosities like Shelob, the Fell Beast, Armored Troll, and perhaps even a Mumakil or two. A Gondorian Catapult and Orc Tower will more than likely hit the streets as well...could Grond be coming...probably!
Model Painting: Of course, the main thrust of Games-Workshop is for the  modeler to have to paint and create his own likeness of each character and make them something to be proud of. You will have to go to considerable effort and dedicate much time to making each UNPAINTED metal or plastic miniature look like you want it to. But there in  lies the beauty of this game: there are no limits to the possibilities or modifications you can make to the characters, the miniatures, or even the rules should want to make it a bit more interesting...muhahaha! But Games-Workshop never leaves you hanging. They have an extensive library of painting guide and techniques to follow along with on their detailed website HERE! They have a ton of scenery projects, painting guides, new scenerios, and tons more!

"Expanded Universe" - Shadow and Flame Follow-up: The furture remains bright for Lord of the Rings and Games-Workshop fans.  In case any of you readers have been under a rock and missed the first "Expanded Universe" release from Games-Workshop called Shadow and Flame, be sure to wake up and get ready for the second release in their "Expanded Universe" of Middle-earth. This second installment will be called the Seige of Gondor , scheduled for a March 2004 release, and contains a whole new line of sweet models for you to paint and call your own. The set is rumored to include a new rulebook similar to the Shadow and Flame rulebook, more new seige weapons and more new characters than you can shake a stick at.
