It has been nearly a year since the initial offering from Games-Workshop in the Lord of the Rings universe. This holiday season, they are all about The Two Towers. With the second installment of the movie right around the corner and promising to be bigger and better than The Fellowship of the Ring, Games-Workshop debuts their next installment as well. The Two Towers strategy battle game promises to add to the playability of the Fellowship line as well as expand it. The Two Towers, both the book and the movie, contains a much more epic battle sort of feel and this plays right into the Table-top battle genre. The Two Towers Boxed Set: With the demonstrated success of the Peter Jackson adaptation of The Fellowship of the Rings, the Two Towers promises more of the same and even bigger. Everything from Oliphaunts and Wargs to Kings and Peasants fighting for their very existence. Games-workshop has been no different. They have successfully adapted their table-top gaming genre to The Lord of the Rings with much enthusiasm and hype. The Two Towers boxed set, much like its Fellowship of the Rings counterpart, will contain a 160-page fully colored operations manual detailing all of the events and characters from the upcoming installment of the trilogy. Also included in the box will be 12 Riders of Rohan (spearmen, bowmen, and swordsmen), 20 Uruk-Hai warriors (pikemen and swordsmen), a couple pieces of plastic ruins to help with battle sequences, and a few dice to get the game rolling. Tons of scenarios and sequences to be carried out and hours of enjoyment for all participating.
Warriors of Rohan Boxed Set: This set will contain plastic warriors from Edoras. These fine fellow will adorn your Gates of Helm's Deep in defending Middle-earth from the rogue Uruk-Hai sent in by Saruman the Traitor. There will be Spearmen, Bowmen, Axemen, and Swordsmen of all shapes and sizes. Will contain 24 miniatures for you to build and paint as you see fit.
Heroes of Helm's Deep Boxed Set: Most of our favorite characters from the Battle at Helm's Deep will be included in this all metal set. Set will include Theoden, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Eowyn, Gamling, Wood Elf Standard Bearer, and Haldir of Lorien. This set promises to help you win any scenario at Helm's Deep. Just imagine the leadership and firepower of these dudes and dudettes on your side.
Warg Attack Boxed Set: All set to attack the People of Rohan on their way to Helm's Deep. These menacing looking riders will be the first one there aboard their swift and powerful Warg Beasts. Part dog, part demon, these beasts are uncontrollable and chase the smell of blood and fear with ravenous speed. The Uruk-Hai riders only THINK they have control of the Wargs...think again. This set of all metal miniatures will definitely put a boost in your Uruk-Hai attack plans if you are attempting any assault on the peoples of Rohan or anyone else for that matter.
The Two Towers Paint Set: Self explanatory, but contains 10 paints and a brush. New colors and paint schemes to enhance the look and feel of any army, not just the ones packaged for The Two Towers.
The Fighting Uruk-Hai Boxed Set: You can't have enough Uruk-Hai, especially when attacking the impenetrable fortress of Helm's Deep. This set 20 plastic Uruk-Hai contains warriors with shields, hand weapons, and pikes. These troops will provide that over-the-edge kind of force that may help in defeating the enemy of Saruman. Unique fighting styles and rules for each different type of warrior adds great challenges and enjoyment to the game play and feel of the game as a whole.
The Riders of Rohan Boxed Set: This set contains all the plastics parts and components to construct 6 Riders of Rohan. The horses give these guys some very significant abilities and mobility on the battlefield that will be a distinct advantage over the foot soldiers of Saruman's Uruk-Hai. Carrying swords, pikes, bows, spears, and shields, these guys will be difficult to defeat unless overwhelmed by sheer numbers. Don't be hasty in sending them into battle as numbers the Uruk-Hai have (boy does that sound like Yoda or what). Plan well, and use these guys sparingly, they are powerful, but costly when lost.
The Uruk-Hai Starter Set: More paints and another brush. These paints focus on painting schemes for the Fighting Uruk-Hai from Isengard. In our opinion, you can never have enough paints to bring out the best artistic nature in all of us.
The Fortress of Helm's Deep: While only a small portion of the walls of Helm's Deep, this scenery promises to be massive. At $75, it should be a great addition to your Helm's Deep diorama and play board. Measuring at nearly 2' across and 9" high, it includes the gates and 2 sections of walls and should be a sweet centerpiece to any battle scene.
Merry and Pippin vs. Grishnákh Blister Set: This first offering in the TTT blister packs looks promising. Contains one each of Grishnákh, Merry, and Pippin. The Merry and Pippin miniatures look to be laying on the ground attempting to escape the hands of their Uruk-Hai and Mordor Orc captors. Will they survive...only you can decide that by the luck of the dice.
Eomer Blister Pack: Eomer is the most valiant of the Riders of Rohan with an impeccable record against all enemies. He continues to protect the realm of Rohan despite the continued attacks by forces both outside and within (see Grima Wormtongue). The nephew to King Theoden, he embarks on a assault of some Uruk-Hai traipsing through Rohan. This miniature will be a huge bonus to the leadership potential for your Riders of Rohan in any battle.
Haldir's Elves Blister Packs: Sent by the Lady of the Wood, Galadriel, the Galadhrim provide a critical resource in the Battle at Helm's Deep. These blisters come with 3 elves each (both bowmen and swordsmen). Their keen eyesight and precision in battle provide the Rohan defenders with valuable reinforcements. Keep them protected as they are vulnerable to attack. Mount them on parapets and let them shoot freely. With the additional of the elves to the defenders of Rohan, the Uruk-Hai have their work cut out for them in finding breaches in the defenses and holes in the walls of the Hornburg.
Gandalf and Wormtongue Blister Packs: Gandalf the White and Shadowfax will be a solid addition to the line. Not only necessary, but these miniatures will be critical in any plan to escape Helm's Deep and have any hope of winning the battle over the countless Uruk-Hai warriors. The Wormtongue miniature looks much like the slithering snake that he is. Corrupting the King of Rohan from the inside, Grima makes for a crucial addition to any plans of the enemy. Each blister contains a single metal miniature.
AWESOME - Uruk Siege Troops, Battering Ram and Assault Ballista Sets: These are probably the coolest sets of Uruk-Hai to date to be released. The Assault Ballista set includes 1 Ballista 'missile' launcher and 3 Uruk-Hai warriors (Pikeman, Swordsman, and Ballista Operator). The Battering Ram set includes the Battering Ram and 4 Uruk-Hai warriors to carry it. Finally, the Siege troops boxed set will include 20 plastic miniatures (ladders, charges, and Uruk-Hai Warriors all included). If attacking any fortresses in Middle-earth, you had better have a few of these guys around to help out in the attack, especially against a place like the impenetrable Helm's Deep. The siege troops provide a great assault force for attacking the fortress, including the very crazy and sometimes kamikaze-styled berserker Uruk-Hai.
The Dice: 2 Sets of dice for your gaming pleasure. Both will work for either side, but you can purchase a set of Free Peoples dice or a set of Forces of Darkness Dice or both, whatever turns your crank. Each pack comes with 8 dice and a marker to establish priority on the battlefield. Having the dice is unnecessary, but adds to the flavor of the gaming experience.
