Tolkien Scholar, Tom Shippey Giving Two Lectures in PA!

Do you live anywhere near Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania just outside Philadelphia? Professor Tom Shippey, noted medievalist and the world's foremost Tolkien scholar, will give be giving two Tolkien related lectures! The first is on Feb 16th at 4:15pm Titled: "Tolkien Book to Jackson Script: the Medium and the Message." His talk will chart the creative reshaping of Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, into Peter Jackson's award-winning trilogy of films. Professor Shippey was the literary consultant to Jackson and the actors as they worked on the films.

The second lecture is Feb 16th at 8pm and is titled: "Rediscovering Middle-earth: the Roots of Tolkien's Myths." His talk will deal with the ways in which medieval literature and ideas helped to shape Tolkien's mythology of Middle-earth.
