As we start back into the thick of it, some things have changed slightly. We have ZEROED out all point transactions so everyone will start earning points with a clean slate (except for the membership points that were awarded when you registered). If you previously got points for viewing an archive or custom...those points can now be re-earned. Secondly, point values for most transactions have changed and new features are being added (some being removed too)...more on these in a minute!
IMPORTANT INFO for RELAUNCH: Any user with 1000 points or LESS was removed from the database (except a few that were commercial contacts that had registered here). If you cannot login or reset your password, you may have to re-register to get back in the thick of things.
ALL Forum THREADS have been LOCKED. Basically sine they are over 2 years old, most of the information is OBE anyway...so I have locked them up. You can STILL read them all without any trouble if you want some cool nostalgia, but if you want to discuss a similar topic to something a past thread, you should start a fresh one!
New/Changed Features: We are adding a REVIEW feature so that folks can actually review products and provide incitefull feedback on collectibles from all ranges (games, books, toys, high-end stuff, etc.). Reviews will be worth considerable points, but having said that, providing a review will have some stiff requirements. I will post the details as I vet out the review system but the REVIEW will require detailed write-ups and imagery to go with each review.
Some features are changing in value and scope. There is still a point value for recommending the site to a friend, but we are adding a REFERAL feature. While you can still recommend a friend simply with the form and an e-mail address, the REFERAL will be worth MUCH more if that person also registers with TheGD.com. Implementation details to follow! Online Collectibles: If anyone is also a member of The Shadow & Flame site, we are initiating something similar to their virtual collectibles 'store'. We will be creating virtual collectibles that you can 'purchase' with your experience points! A very cool way to 'spend' your points and share in all things Middle-earth. Again...I am still working out the details, creating the collectibles, and seeing how this will impact our GIVEAWAYS!
Dragonmates: We are working on a new feature called 'Dragonmates' that will enable members to create groups or add members to their 'favorites'. This isn't anything point worthy (yet!), but a concept for creating smaller communities within the larger!
LOST Features:We are scrapping the SIGHTINGS feature unless someone makes a valid argument for keeping it. While the concept is excellent, maintenance was cumbersome and I am not sure anyone really got anything out of it.
